This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how EdgeComet Inc. ("EdgeComet," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies across our platform and websites, and what choices you have.
This Policy covers three distinct surfaces, each with a different cookie profile:
- The EdgeComet reverse proxy gateway – the core infrastructure component that intercepts bot traffic
- The EdgeComet dashboard – the web application at edgecomet.com where customers manage the Service
- The EdgeComet marketing website – edgecomet.com
It also covers the optional Edge SEO JavaScript File that customers may install on their own websites. This Cookie Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) by a website when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide information to website owners.
Cookies can be:
- Session cookies – temporary files deleted when you close your browser
- Persistent cookies – files that remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them
- First-party cookies – set by the website you are visiting
- Third-party cookies – set by a domain other than the one you are visiting
In addition to cookies, we reference similar technologies in this Policy including CSRF tokens (security tokens stored in cookies or browser memory) and JavaScript-based analytics tags.
1. The EdgeComet reverse proxy – No Cookies
The EdgeComet reverse proxy is the core infrastructure component that intercepts bot traffic on behalf of our customers. It is important to understand what the proxy does and does not do with respect to cookies:
|
What the proxy does NOT do |
What the proxy DOES do |
|---|---|
|
• Does not set any cookies on bot requests • Does not set any cookies on human visitor requests • Does not intentionally read or use cookies from incoming requests for any functional or analytical purpose • Does not modify cookies set by the customer's origin server The EdgeComet reverse proxy is designed to operate on requests from identified bots only. Human visitor traffic is not intentionally modified, analyzed for content delivery purposes, or used as part of the Service’s core functionality. However, limited technical processing of human visitor requests (such as routing, connection handling, and security filtering) may occur at the infrastructure level. Such processing is transient and not used to identify individuals or build behavioral profiles. |
• Adds diagnostic HTTP response headers to bot responses: X-Render-Source, X-Cache-Age, X-Request-ID • These are HTTP headers, not cookies, and are visible only to the requesting bot, not to human visitors |
2. EdgeComet dashboard cookies
The EdgeComet dashboard uses a minimal set of cookies necessary to operate the web application. These cookies are set only when you are logged into or actively using the dashboard.

Analytics cookies (GA4) are non-essential. They help us understand how the dashboard is used so we can improve it. These cookies do not track your activity outside of the EdgeComet dashboard and do not build advertising profiles.
3. EdgeComet marketing website Cookies
The edgecomet.com marketing website uses Google Analytics 4 for website traffic analytics. A cookie consent banner is displayed to all visitors. Non-essential cookies are set only upon your explicit consent.

EdgeComet does not use advertising cookies, remarketing cookies, social media tracking pixels, or any cookies designed to build profiles of individual visitors for commercial targeting purposes on edgecomet.com.
4. Edge SEO JavaScript file – no cookies
EdgeComet provides an optional JavaScript file that customers may choose to install on their own websites. This file applies Edge SEO modifications (title changes, canonical fixes, structured data updates, etc.) in the visitor's browser, mirroring the changes the proxy applies to bots.
This file:
- Sets no cookies of any kind
- Makes no external requests to EdgeComet servers or any other server
- Transmits no visitor data
- Is entirely self-contained and executes locally in the visitor's browser
Customers who install this file on their website do not need to mention EdgeComet in their own cookie policies or privacy notices as a result of this file.
5. Google Analytics – additional information
EdgeComet uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) on both the dashboard and the marketing website. GA4 collects anonymized and aggregated usage data. We use this data solely to understand how our platform and website are used and to improve them.
Key facts about GA4 as used by EdgeComet:
- IP addresses are anonymized by default in GA4
- We do not use GA4 for advertising or remarketing
- We do not share GA4 data with third parties for their own purposes
- GA4 data is processed by Google in accordance with Google's privacy policy and data processing terms
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

7. Your cookie choices
7.1 When you visit edgecomet.com, a cookie consent banner will appear. You may accept all cookies or decline non-essential cookies. You may change your preferences at any time by clicking the cookie settings link in the website footer. If you decline non-essential cookies, only the consent-preference cookie will be set.
7.2 Essential cookies (session and CSRF) are required for the dashboard to function and cannot be disabled. If you wish to disable GA4 analytics cookies within the dashboard, you may do so through your browser settings. Disabling GA4 cookies does not affect your ability to use any dashboard features.
7.3 You can control cookies at the browser level. Most browsers allow you to:
- View cookies currently stored on your device
- Delete individual cookies or all cookies
- Block all cookies or block cookies from specific websites
- Set preferences for first-party and third-party cookies separately
Please note that disabling essential cookies (session, CSRF) will prevent you from logging into the EdgeComet dashboard. Instructions for managing cookies in common browsers:

7.4 Do not track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. EdgeComet does not currently alter its data collection practices in response to DNT signals, as there is no universally accepted standard for how websites should respond to such signals. We will revisit this position as standards evolve.
