Connecting Search Console
Google Search Console holds the user side of search: which queries your pages rank for, and the impressions, clicks, CTR, and position they earn. Connecting it lets EdgeComet join that data with its own bot-side page data, so a URL is described across its whole lifecycle: crawled, indexed, ranked, clicked.
How to connect
In the dashboard, open Configuration - Search Console for your website and sign in with a Google account that has access to the site's Search Console property. Pick the property that matches the website's domain; a domain property covering the site works as well. EdgeComet requests read-only access to Search Console data.
After connecting, EdgeComet syncs daily query, page, country, and device tables for the property. The first sync backfills the history Google makes available, so the search reports carry data from before the connection date.
What it unlocks
- Search analytics: keyword portfolio, page performance, traffic decay, cannibalization - Search Console numbers joined against EdgeComet's page data and segments.
- Section-level answers: once segments exist, every search metric splits by page type - which section owns a traffic decline, per-segment impression coverage, and so on.
- Automatic segmentation: the first completed Search Console sync triggers the automatic page-type segmentation run for the site.
- Traffic-weighted prioritization: the Action Board ranks findings by the search traffic actually at stake on the affected pages.
EdgeComet honors Search Console's data anonymization and shows the anonymized share inline next to the affected numbers.
